The Edge-On-Up PT50A is the showpiece of the Edge-On-Up range of precision meters. Want to know if your kitchen knives need sharpening? Want to know more about the condition of your extensive knife collection? Or do you want to know if sharpening has really made your knife sharper? This sharpening gauge shows the pressure required to cut through the test medium with a 1 gram increment.

Compared to other sharpness meters, this Edge-On-Up PT50A has a better sensor and a faster processor to measure your knife sharpness even more accurately! The Edge-On-Up PT50C measures in 25 gram increments and the Edge-On-Up PT50B in 5 gram increments.

How does the Edge-On-Up meter work?
The Edge-On-Up sharpness meter scientifically measures the sharpness of your knives. The holder contains certified synthetic wire. Gently press the knife to this wire. The scale below the holder measures the pressure applied until the wire is cut. This is the result of the test. The pressure in grams is the C-scale value of the BESS (Brubacher Edge Sharpness Scale). This BESS value is the final test result. The sharper the knife, the less weight it needs, the lower the BESS value. A lower score is therefore sharper than a higher score. As such, the sharpness of the knife has a scientific value. Never again will you have to guess or insist on the term “razor sharp”. Namely, there is a specific numerical value that allows you to compare sharpness.
