In our new blog series, we would like to introduce and demonstrate the operation of our sharpening and belt grinding machines. There are many sharpening techniques and machines available on the market with which we can sharpen in different ways and with precision. In our latest post, we present the technique and use of our custom-developed sharpening machines, which are recommended for both home and industrial use.
Precision
The first and one of the most important aspects of sharpening machines is precision. The quality of the knife land lies in its precision and fineness. Let’s talk about precision first! Our knife clamps and angle scales meet the accuracy criteria of our knife sharpening machines. These two parts are responsible for shaping the knife land at a constant and equal angle each time the blade or scissor blade comes into contact with the band.
During the resharpening of each knife, thanks to the built-in angle scale, we can reproduce the previously chosen edge angle 100% without the use of other accessories. As a result, unnecessary material removal is avoided, thus extending the life of the knife.
The smaller (finer) grain size band is used to form the edge, the sharper the knife will be. It is possible to sharpen a knife to a degree, where it can cut a hair into two. This is worth doing in several steps for efficiency. A primary aspect in the design of our machine was the ability to change the bands fast, which takes only a few seconds, so every machine owner can tailor the fineness of the knife land to their own needs, all they need is a finer band. These bands cost 300-850 HUF, so you do not have to invest in tens of thousands of forints in the replacement and adjustment of which is a continuous task, not to mention the downtime.
Quality
Our next, but by no means secondary, cornerstone is quality, all components of the DTG-KS sharpening product family are designed for continuous operation. We use technologies and built-in materials used in industrial applications from surface treatment, through the motor and bearings to the last screw and washer. We assemble, test and inspect all our machines by hand in accordance with the highest quality requirements, thus ensuring continuous and high quality of our products. We believe that you can only work well with a good machine and we offer a solution for this with all our products.
Efficiency
What brings if a machine is reliable and precise if it is not efficient enough. Efficiency is not an unknown concept in the DTG-KS product family.

This is due on the one hand to the multi-stage knife land, the basic condition of which is the incredibly fast band change, and on the other hand to the ideally chosen belt speed, the choice of which is the result of a long experimental process. Our single-speed sharpening machines work with a belt speed of 5 [m/s], while the belt speeds of the VFD-equipped machines (KS1V and KS3V) can be steplessly adjusted between 3-12 [m/s]. Thanks to the ideally chosen belt speed, we can form the land on our cutting tool with sufficient efficiency, all without overheating our blade.
Ease of use
The three important qualities like quality, precision and efficiency are worth nothing if the sharpening machines are complicated and cumbersome to use. The ergonomic design of the machine family, the simplicity of the clamps and the properly chosen belt speed allow everyone to easily learn how to use the machine. Regardless of dexterity, anyone can use the machine within 1-2 hours!
